How many times have you hopped from modern bedroom store to store in Los Angeles only to feel you will never find exactly what you are looking for? Don’t give up, there is hope. Bedroom shopping, while it can be frustrating, once you discover ”the one” you will smile and realize that all the time and patience you put in to it was worth it.

One of the great things about living in a city like Los Angeles, is there is no end to the kind of stores you can shop at to find the perfect bedroom set. Modern is always a great choice as it lends itself to so many variations on a theme. Sometimes it pays to visit a modern lighting or rug store as they can have arrangements set up that just might help lead you to what you are looking for and didn’t even realize it. Like what you see? Ask the store where they got their display furniture or better yet, like it enough, ask to buy the display itself. It is a great way to get exactly what you want at a reduced cost.

Perhaps the most important part of finding a modern bedroom store set is the bed itself. Clearly, comfort is number one. Don’t forget to take into considerations flexibility of use as well as possible storage either at the top, bottom or underneath. I don’t know about you but I never seem to have enough storage space.

Another design to consider is ease of maintenance. Beds that are all wood require more upkeep than a metal bed. Upholstered headboards are nice but try to find ones you can easily take down and clean once in a while.

The rest of the pieces in the room should set the mood for you as a comforting and relaxing retreat from the world. Having all matching pieces can feel overly formal as well as having all of the typical bedroom pieces. Don’t be afraid to include a low coffee table or comfortable chair for two. It will make you want to hang out in your bedroom creating a peaceful place in which to unwind in at the end of a long day.

Try to select colors that lend themselves to flexibility to provide the richness of intimacy with the restfulness of a sequined blue. A tall dresser accompanied with a low lying dresser will provide areas to place pictures and hand stenciled boxes for jewelry. While a television in every room including the bedroom seems to typify the American home, try to relegate it to being  behind an eclectically decorated cabinet rather than just out. A big black screen is not appealing.
