As a new homeowner, you may absolutely love the house but realize that your yard and outdoor area needs some desperate help in revitalizing the look of the house. Whether it’s adding modern furniture to your outdoor area to pulling all those overgrown weeds in the yard, it’s time to take charge of your lawn and find some ways to bring it under control.
First, get rid of all the weeds in your yard. If you don’t want to use a weed killer or pesticide (which goes into your water supply) use a mixture of water and vinegar for a natural way to kill the weeds in your yard. Once you’ve done this, lay down some grass seed and begin watering as much as local watering rules allow. You can also install new sod and usually get a temporary break on watering laws. Once you lawn is nice and lush, it will be fun hanging with friends outside, lounging on outdoor sofa beds or chairs while sipping cocktails by the pool. It’s easy to envision, isn’t it?
Once you’ve worked on the lawn enough so at least it’s green even if it doesn’t have a lot of plants and trees yet, you can begin building your decking area to accommodate family and friends over your contemporary outdoor dining tables.
Look carefully at woods and colors as you choose to build this part of your home. There are many options for your outdoor patio but having an outdoor dining set will be important, especially if you live in areas such as Miami or Los Angeles where it is often sunny outside.
You want to find a rot and weather resistant wood to use such as pressure-treated wood, teak, bamboo or for your outdoor furniture, synthetic rattan. You definitely want a cover of sorts over your head so that when you are lounging in your patio chair it doesn’t start pouring on you. Make sure you measure everything from start to finish to ensure you get enough materials to do the job.
If you plan on buying large furniture such an outdoor sectional sofa or even an outdoor bed you want to make sure you have enough space to accommodate all the seating you might need. Being squashed is no fun, so take the time to plan your outdoor area correctly. Look online to find a picture that suits your vision and use it as a plan to build you outdoor patio, complete with a modern patio table and all!
